A Russian interference current (IC) apparatus was employed in treatment of 30 children with bronchial asthma. In 8 children IC was used as a monotherapy, while the other patients, as well as 20 asthmatic children of a comparable control group, were also treated with euphillin, corticosteroids, spasmolytics, adrenomimetics, etc. The patients were from 4 to 14 yr old, and suffered from asthma for several years. All the children tolerated IC procedures well, without any side reactions. In 10 patients, even the first IC procedure decreased clinical symptoms of bronchial obstruction. The favorable effect was confirmed by computer flowmeter measurements of the maximum volume air velocity. By the fifth procedure, the bronchial permeability significantly improved at all levels (small, medium, and large bronchi), thus making it possible to decrease the dosage of spasmolytic drugs. By the end of the course, the clinical symptoms and external respiration function improved in 83.3% of IC-treated patients. [BENER 15198]
