The author presented three cases of patients with multiple sclerosis complicated by excessive fatigue which was ameliorated by extracranial stimulation with low-frequency picoTesla-strength electromagnetic fields (EMF). All three patients reported experiencing continuous, debilitating fatigue throughout the day. All three underwent a course of extracranial EMF treatment. After the treatments, the patients noted significant improvement in their fatigue symptoms. For example, one patient received an initial course of EMF therapy for 10 days, after which he reported a dramatic improvement in his fatigue symptoms. Each session consisted of 30 minutes of treatment with 7.5-picoTesla pulses administered twice with a break of 15 min. With continued treatment, the improvements were sustained. The author concluded that extracranial stimulation of MS patients with pT-strength EMFs helps alleviate the fatigue associated with the disease. [BENER 15140]

September 21, 1998 - Miss Sharon Marie Plain, MSAA South Eastern Region--Volunteer Regional Director, Support Group Leader & Special Events Co-ordinator (smpgacpd@onslowonline.net) I run the Support group here in Jacksonville, North Carolina. We are the very first state in the South to ever get 15 acres of land to build the first physically challenged housing complex right here at Jacksonville, North Carolina, home of the Camp Lejuene Marine Corps. So this is very historic for MSAA and us in Jacksonville, NC. I saw the need and went after it! It sure has been a lot of work, but to see the housing units go up is just a great feeling as I go by every day to see it! Currently trying to get more MSAA Groups in NC! I have heard about the item above and I would like to see information on it, to show to group members and when I do our NC State 8th Annual Technology Show in Raleigh, NC at the North Hilton at Raleigh, Oct 14th. I will be there to set up and the MSAA Technology will be shown! Please send me information on this item. Thank You

April 25, 1998 - Jil, MSAA (Jln13) Multiple Sclerosis of America Association (MSAA) funded a double-blind clinical study on low-level EMF at the University of Washington. The study found that the "active" group experienced improvement in some or all of the following areas: fatigue, bladder control, cognitive function, mobility, spasticity and vision. FDA approval in the USA is pending. Please Note, while MSAA funded the study, we do not endorse or recommend any type of treatment. It is the responsibility of the patient to investigate and check with their physician in order to select a treatment which is best for that individual. I have MS and it is always a personal decision in regards to what one chooses or does not choose to try. If you have any further questions, please contact your local MSAA office.
