Russian researchers investigated the use of millimeter wave (MMW) therapy in the treatment of complications arising from hemorrhage into the knee joints in hemophiliac patients. Patients had hemophilic arthropathy and hemarthroses of the knee joint were treated with MMW exposures lasting for 10 days, 20-25 minutes a day. The authors noted advantages of MMW therapy over traditional physical therapy in pain reduction, symptom abatement, reduced need for complementary therapies, and improved overall state of the patients. July 24, 1998 - Doug Skinner My daughter, Heather, is a Hemophiliac and is currently in the hospital recovering from a second knee surgery on her right knee. Her doctor has stated that her knee is extremely arthritic and believes it may only be two or three years before she may have to have a knee replacement or knee fusion. Of course, I am very disturbed by this, so I request any assistance you all may be able to give me on this. As far as her physical therapy to recover from this surgery, I am very interested in this Millimeter Wave Therapy. So far nobody that I have talked to in Montgomery has heard of this therapy. Can you either call or send my daughters` doctor some information on MMW? They have started some therapy, including a machine that slowly flexes her knee continuously. They are wanting her to walk on crutches today. Of course, being twelve years old and in quite a bit of pain, she is reluctant to walk. Please help me if you can.
