May 21, 2003 - John (MD) For clinical research reports on magnet therapy, read "Brain Allergies--the Psychonutrient and Magnetic Connections" 2d.ed. by William H. Philpott, MD. It can be purchased at Amazon.com. Dr. Philpott has studied magnetic fields (static) since 1985 and based his work on the hypotheses of Albert Roy Davis who identified an electron rotational difference in cellular tissue depending on the magnetic pole applied. David found that with the north pole (negative pole), the electrons rotate counterclockwise and tend to reduce tissue acidosis and inflammation. The south pole (positive) causes clockwise rotation and evokes tissue acidosis and inflammation. This latter information has been confirmed by NASA, but I don't have the citation at present. Contrary to an earlier comment in this list, flat ceramic and neodymium magnets are produced with north (negative) on one side and south (positive) on the other side. The magnetic waves meet at the edge of such magnets and this can be demonstrated with a compass needle, a magnometer, and gauss meters. Dr. Philpott has used such flat magnets in the treatment of a variety of chronic degenerative conditions with considerable success. He has records confirming cancer cure in a number of patients in whom all traditional chemotherapy/radiation treatment had been abandoned either by patient choice or on the advice of the patient's oncologist due to maximum doses having been used without cure. The magnets were a final, although novel resort under such circumstances. Dr. Philpott makes no claims of curing anything and I'm making no claims for him or me, but over the last 18 years has consistently observed mostly positive results to support the hypothesis that the negative pole will eliminate tissue acidosis and inflammation with clinical resolution of disorders which are inflammatory by nature.
April 13, 2003 - Roderick I wish to make contact with anyone that has knowledge of Dr. Demetrio Sodi Pallares' methods using a "fine needle" to introduce weak DC current into a tumor while concurrently applying magnetic resonance. I have pancreatic cancer, and have read that his treatment showed effectiveness in treating pancreatic cancer. Thanks for your help.
February 01, 2003 - Glen (Affiliation: EM-PROBE Inc., CEO) A most interesting web site. I've conducted research on PEMF for 22 years and can assure all that until government agencies here change their attitudes, nothing will happen in the US. Mr Isaacs comments on pulse characteristics was recently proven by U of Mich investigators who were funded by NASA. They are interested because of EMFs astronauts experience, and their potential biologic effects. Sine wave fields aren't very effective, if at all. Rapid rise time and short duration pulses (dB/dt) are the best according to the U of M study (incidentally, not published yet). I have supervised the application of over 100,000 treatments on 22,000 patients, but we didn't treat cancer. Whole body units at appropriate(?)pulse duration and frequency may hold promise in that regard. Several studies, including preliminary work by us, demonstrated remarkable success with acute spinal cord injury, yet no one can get money to study this tragic injury. Care of these animals is very intensive and expensive. At present we have the fastest pulse we have seen in the world (nanoseconds duration) which to us seems vital, because electromagnetic events in the human body is a picosecond universe. Picoseconds and wire circuitry are almost an oxymoron, so those pulse durations may not be acheivable, however we have found a rapid rise time and brief pulse very effective in a wide variety of conditions. We further hypothesize that one of the main actions of PEMF in oxidative stress situations may be to enhance the EM interaction of antioxidants and free radicals via considerations suggested by the Arrhenius equation (Chemical Principles, S Zumdahl, Heath Pubs. Another book is Vibrational Medicine, (handbook of subtle energies)by Gerber. It is somewhat ozonic, but interesting. In the US we don't see PEMF as an accepted technology for many years in spite of the hundreds of peer reviewed studies being generated at some of our best research centers. For more on this you may wish to visit Yahoo's group site on Bioelectromagnetics.

February 20, 2002 - Steve Isaacs, BS, JD My own research indicates that the factor seldom considered in EMF research is the FREQUENCY of the EMF fields (man-made or natural) which cause illness. Most research is done with EMF fields operating at 50-60 hertz. I have located only a few research studies pertaining to the causative link between illness and EMF fields operating at frequencies other than 50-60 hertz. Yet, I have seen a trend whereby certain illness appears linked to certain frequencies and / or consumer and commercial devices. Some support for this came from Dr. Valerie V. Hunt's research. Dr. Hunt used fractal mathematics to study the human energy field and produced the first dramatic chaos patterns ever found in human biological systems. When a computer becomes unstable, it may be resolved by restarting the computer. Likewise, when a person gets ill, providing a stable healthy magnetic field may help bring that person back to health. Some people are natural healers and are able to assist ill individuals "reset" their energy fields by hands on healing. Others use devices to help reset a person's energy fields Dr. Hunt studied this phenomenon. I understand that these modalities of treatment are quite common in England and China, while only the hands on healing is in common usage in the U.S.A.
September 10, 1999 - Ken For Joe (May 03, 1999), Static electricity is very common in low humidity levels and usually in cool places (winter months). Static is built up with rubber type of soles on your feet, and electrons collect from the ground by your feet 'rubbing' carpet or some type of electron rich source. It is very common... can draw arcs with your fingers to a ground potential. Try as an experiment, rubbing a fluorescent tube in a closed room like a bathroom with saran wrap, or a wool cloth. Rubbing the tube outside the full length will actually light it up from the electron rich material (dielectric). : )
May 03, 1999 - Jojo I have a dilemma. Have you heard of anyone having magnetic fingers, or static electricity on fingers? Is that common? I usually hand something/anything to my colleague in the office or sometimes in the street to my daughter and we would often get "Sparks" or small jolts of electricity on our fingers from me, my officemates always get electrocuted... and one time I was picking a small piece of paper on the carpet... when suddenly the paper lifted up by itself about 1" from the floor & up sticking to my finger without me touching it yet! and often I would touch my hair & up goes my hair following my hands? Why is this happening to me? Am I weird... does it happen to a lot of people too? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks
April 09, 1999 - Phil Waterman Oh yeah? Then how come the north pole is so big and cold?
January 11, 1999 - Scott Hill There are no magnetic monopoles!! (i.e. north pole cannot be isolated)
November 23, 1998 - Terry Rogers Was the north pole only used in this experiment?
October 18, 1998 - Don Richards (drichards@bbc.net) I think that magnetism plays a very important part in the essence of life. Mother earth is simply a large magnet being fueled by electromagnetic packages of energy from the sun called photons.
February 06, 1998 - Don Nolan (dnolan@hq.nasa.gov) This is actually a question not a comment. If research is being done on the effects of electromagnetic fields for medical treatment is anyone aware of research into the electromagnetic field produced naturally by some people. I have a reporter doing a story on this subject and can find no information on it. There are apparently people who can crash a computer by their presence in the same room, or who cannot wear a digital watch. These same people also have problems with telephones. Can anyone out there help me out? Thanks.
August 16, 1997 - K. Carrigan (carrk@erols.com) This is the first 'Positive' article on electromagnetic fields that I've seen published by 'medical establishment studies'. There is obviously some linking methodology to effect our cells by EM fields. There has been considerable work by 'other' not affiliated with 'medical establishment' that use various EM waves to promote healing by either 'harmonizing' our bodies with certain 'desired' and specific frequencies or killing organisms (fungas, bacteria, viruses, etc) by evanescent resonate modes interactions. There are many top researchers that have profound results with reducing/eliminating cancer tumors but lack credibility in terms of 'medical establishments' rules and studies. We know from fact that TENs units are used to reduce pain, and magnetic fields are used to accelerate bone healing (tissue also). We also know that low frequency magnetic fields affect melatonin levels in the brain - as light also affects this level. Experiments have been carried out, under a microscope, that clearly show there are evanescent resonate modes to cellular structures and seems to be more effective to short pulsed squarewaves or Dirac type pulses. This type pulse enables broad frequency bandwidth and seems to affect cellular structures where sinusoidal waveforms do not. H-Fields also seem to be the linking methodology where the wave impedance couples more efficiently. Zeta waveforms (bipolar sawtooth) are extensively used by the 'medical establishments' - because they desire the high dv/dt single pulse - very close to Dirac in nature.
August 1, 1997 - M. Rife (mrife@sprynet.com) My sister has supposedly, lymphoma of the lungs, with no spreading in 2 years to any other part of her body. She goes to Canada for microwave therapy and light chemotherapy. She has run out of money, 3 trips costing $15,000, no insurance, we are at a brick wall. She does the essiac tea and takes an expensive tumor inhibitor. Would love some more information on non-traditional therapy, and if anyone in the US does microwve therapy for cancer. She was diagnosed 2.5 years ago and was only supposed to live 6 months. Her one lung has totally collapsed.
August 13, 1996 - M. Pignalberi I have a sister suffering from cancer. She's had chemo and an operation. But the pathology report says she still has some cancerous cells on her bones. I just purchased a magnetic sleeping pad for her because I believe it will help her be comfortable and, hopefully, have some healing effect. However, my family will think I'm a crackpot if I can't back up my beliefs with some research. This article is the first thing I've found that seems relevant. I'm new on the Internet and I don't know or want to subscribe to publications I won't understand. Can I just get a copy of this article, or any others on point, that might help my sister and family weather the risk of doing something so odd as sleeping on a magnetic pad? Thanks.
