The authors evaluated the clinical efficacy of pulsed electromagnetic energy therapy (PEMET) for promoting wound healing of pressure ulcers in patients with spinal cord injuries (SCI patients). Patients with stage II stage III ulcers received PEMET 30 min daily for 12 wk or until the sores were healed. Three out of 5 patients with stage III ulcers receiving PEMET healed completely. The authors concluded that PEMET therapy is safe and accelerates healing of pressure ulcers in SCI patients. [BENER 12944]

November 22, 2003 - Jan (M.D.) You can't draw the conclusion you have drawn from your data. You have no control group and no evidence that your patients would have healed more slowly without EMFT.

March 3, 1997 Five patients could not possibly provide statistical significance levels which would allow you to claim your conclusions are true regardless of the protocol used in such a study.
