A case-control study was conducted of maternal residential proximity to high-voltage power lines and its possible association with the occurrence of congenital defects in infants. The authors concluded that their data do not support an association between distance from a high-voltage power line and the total number of congenital abnormalities. However, the study did not have sufficient statistical power to determine if living near a high-voltage power line produces low-level increases in the risk of a specific congenital abnormality. May 05, 1999 - Tom Like many of the others I am concerned with the possible link of the high power lines and impact on health. Can you supply and research data or direct me to sites that have this type of info? Thanx

September 14, 1998 - Valerie My husband and I are also considering building a home 1/10 of mile from a power line (tower). We haven't been able to get any consensus on what a safe distance is. If you find out, please let me know! Thanks, Val

May 25, 1998 - Julie Ferguson My husband and I are looking at purchasing a beautiful new house but it's near some power lines and I'm concerned about what I've heard about the corona. Could you please briefly explain the corona to me? Should I be concerned, and if so how close would you live to a power line? I'm a third year mechanical engineering student so if you have any formulas that may help please send them.
