Conventional therapy for atopic dermatitis was combined with millimeter wave (MMW) treatment. MMW therapy significantly reduced or eliminated itching, decreased inflammation, infiltration, and lichenification, along with normalization of humoral immunity indices. During the follow-up observation period of 1-4 yr, recidivism of the disease occurred only in 15% of patients treated with MMW, compared to 53% in a comparison group. The author reported that MMW exposure procedures were always tolerated well, did not cause any adverse side effects, and improved the general state of the patients. [BENER 12919]

December 31, 2002 - Shane I left my last message Jan. 1998... and you know I still see no response. I must conclude that your studies and use of MWT to treat Atopic Dermatitis were not as successful as once thought. If I am wrong in this thinking please correct me. I am still itching 24x7 and could use the relief.

July 19, 1998 - Thomas I have suffered from Atopic Eczema since I was a kid (I'm 32) it started as the usual rashes behind the knees and elbows when I was about 3 years old. I could not have milk or other dairy products. I was less prone to eczema for about 7 years until my early teens and then a skiing accident (hitting my left leg against a tree) resulted in severe itching on that leg. This continued for several years. The itching didn't spread, I just had an area of sores about the size of a grown man's palm around my left ankle. When I was 18 I began to take anti-histimines continuously to stop my hayfever (I also have severe Asthma) and this had the side effect of stopping the itching in my legs. I had no eczema rashes for 6 years. I moved to Norway 8 years ago and after two months the anti-histamines I took from the UK ran out. Within a week I was scratching my lower legs again. I've tried anti-histamines available in Norway, and have found the benefits to be minimal/non-existent, while I go around in a doped daze. Today my eczema has spread up both legs, both arms and on my back. The itching is intolerable! I understand Shane Rinker so well!! I'm on Prednisolon Cortizone tabs 30mg per day and take Cortizone for my lungs anyway AND use Dermovate Cortizone cream on the skin. This adds up to a lot of chemicals for my already exhausted body. Not to mention "Moon-face" side effects. This is my albeit long-winded, plea for help. Can anyone tell me more about MWT? No Dermatologist in Norway has talked to me about this, and I'm tired of doing the same old rounds of visiting Homeopaths, Acupuncturists, Food allergy clinics et al. Thanks for your time! Regards Thomas Higgins

July 19, 1998 - Bistra Vassileva M.D. I also use MMW therapy in my practice in Sofia, Bulgaria and I have wonderful results. A lot of patients with neurodisease, stomach and duodenic ulcers, allergies and orthopaedical problems are feeling themselves much better. I would like to know whether there are in the USA some clinics or colleges, interested in this method of therapy.

January 04, 1998 - Shane R. I am 28 years old and have lived with Atopic Dermatitis my whole life. Though my case is not nearly as severe as some I have seen, I am very interested in this treatment. I have never heard of it before. Not from any doctor I have seen or in any artcle I have read. How may I find more information on this treatment? I am tired of itching 24 hours a day every day! If this is something that could help, I sure would like to find out the specifics! Thank you for publishing on this web site. There may be hope for those of us who suffer through this most irritating disease!

December 31, 1996 - O. Elias I have a child with atopic dermatitis. She is 3 years old and I need more information about this new treatment. I also wonder if this could be used in small children. I need all kinds of information about atopic dermatitis becouse I don't know what to do and she is getting worse.

October 7, 1996 - Anonymous I am currently messing with Sebborhea. I have not yet tried this method but will not forget about it. The loss of hair is extremely annoying and it's itchy. Is this inherited?

August 23, 1996 - R. Cameron I was interested in the comment on atopic dermatitis and mm wave useage. I had sebborhea and the same mm wave exposure was used. This was in early 1960 and the hair loss persisted which subsequently was found to be due to severe sun exposure. My current dermatologist says such treatment would not be used for these cases today. Permanent baldness resulted from the UV exposure and the mm wave treatments had an adverse effect.
